Fans

A fan is necessary in order to throw out "the old" air and to make some fresh air. Infact, plants use carbon dioxide for the photosythesis process, and moreover is needful to dissipate the lamps heat to avoid burns and hoverheatings.
If you are growing with HPS/MH lamps, its use become fundamental. We can find them in various types, and they are sortable on their capacity, expressed in cubic meters/hours. A good approximation, in order to calculate your necessary capacity, can be made multiplying the volume of the growo room for 75 (height x width x depth x 75 / 1.000.000 = needed capacity, in cubic meters for hours -m3/h-). Various types of fans exist: the easier fo find is the domestic type, one of those that we use for bathrooms, but they generally have a scant capacity (under 100 m3/h) and they often produce a lot of noise. They cannot be matched with activ carbons. Low cost.
Helicoidal tube fans are less easy to find, but they have a fair capacity, they don't produce a lot of noise and they have the advantage of being directly installed in the air escape tube (they are also easily matched with smell filters). The best is the centrifugal fan: powerful, silent, apt for great spaces, combinable with active carbons.
